Five More Officials Given Compulsory Retirement For Inefficiency and Dereliction of Duty

Bhubaneswar: For the second time in this month, the Odisha Government has given compulsory retirement to five government officials on grounds of inefficiency and dereliction of duty. The five officials include an OAS Officer, a DSP, a Police Inspector and two Municipality Executives.

Rabindra Kumar Sethi, who working as the Deputy Superintendent of police at Kalahandi Investigative Units for Crime against Women(IUCAW) has been handed over the compulsory retirement. He was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption department while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 following which he was arrested and taken into judicial custody.

Former Tahsildar of Bonai Sushil Kumar Kujur has also been given the compulsory retirement. He was charged with misappropriation of MNREGA funds while he was the BDO of Dhenkanal’s Sadar block. The government suffered a loss of Rs 24.22 lakh for his acts. Kujur was arrested by the anti-corruption agency.

The third government official to be given the compulsory retirement is Bangamunda Police Inspector Binod Bihari Nayak. He was caught by the Vigilance sleuths while he was traveling from Bangamunda to Kuchinda in a personal car and the officials recovered more than Rs two lakhs from his possession. The vigilance officials further found cash worth more than Rs three lakhs from his residence.

Likewise, two former Executive Officers of Basudevpur and Karanjia have also been given compulsory retirement for inefficiency and dereliction of duty.

This action is a part of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s commitment to zero tolerance to corruption and emphasis on high morals and integrity in public service. On 8th February this year, five officials of the state government were given compulsory retirement on grounds of inefficiency and dereliction of duty. Till now, such action has been taken against 151 government officials
