Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is committed to ensure food security for all and not a single poor will be deprived of food security, reiterated Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while launching four major online citizen services of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department at Lokseva Bhawan here today as part of the ongoing transformative initiative under 5T charter of governance.
The four new online services are online registration facility for farmers selling paddy, online application for ration card management, online deposit of cost of food grains by fair price shops and online deposit of license fees by fair price shops.
The Chief Minister also unveiled the book ‘Making of a Food Secure Odisha’. The book contains information on the reforms taken place in Odisha in the last 20 years in the field of food security.
Speaking on the occasion, Naveen said that his government is committed to ensure food security for all. Not a single poor will be deprived of food security.
The State Government has covered nearly 25 lakh people under its Food Security Scheme, who have been excluded under National Food Security Act (NFSA), the Chief Minister said.
More than 3.5 crore people have been included in food security in the State. The people from all over the State are directly connected to the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, the Chief Minister said while calling for greater awareness among the people on the new online system in order to enable them to get the benefits of transformative initiatives.
The Chief Minister also urged the officials to give him a report about the number of people who use the online system during the month.
