New Delhi: Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations of all sizes from almost every industry sector are massively shifting towards the ‘Work from Home’ and ‘Work from Anywhere’ work models.
In a major boost to the tech industry, the government has done away with most of the registration and compliance requirements that will facilitate permanent work from home for the ‘Other Service Providers’ (OSPs) industry, which includes BPOs and ITES.
The Department of Telecom initiated major reforms and done away with the registration and compliance requirements that will facilitate permanent work from home for the ‘Other Service Providers’ (OSPs) industry altogether and the BPO industry engaged in data related work has been taken out of the ambit of OSP regulations.
Also, requirements such as deposit of bank guarantees, for static IPs, frequent reporting obligations, the publication of network diagram, penal provisions etc. have also been removed. Similarly, several other requirements, which prevents companies from adopting ‘Work from Home’ and ‘Work from Anywhere’ policies have also been removed, the government said in a statement.
“The reform will certainly unleash the potential of our talented youth by making India as a preferred destination for Information and Knowledge Outsourcing Industry and would further the vision of ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’,” the release added.
