Hathras Gang-Rape: SP, Four Other Policemen Suspended By UP Govt

Hathras (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Government on Friday suspended the Hathras SP and four other police officers over the gangrape-murder case of the Dalit woman, a senior official said. The official said the action has been taken on the basis of a preliminary inquiry report of the SIT.

Besides Hathras SP Vikrant Vir, the other suspended policemen are Circle Officer Ramshabd, Inspector Dinesh Kumar Verma, Sub-Inspector Jagveer Singh and Head Constable Mahesh Pal, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said.
The official said besides the suspended policemen, all those connected with the case will have to undergo narco and polygraph tests.

The SIT was formed on the CM’s instructions on September 30. The team was instructed to submit a report within seven days. The SIT team stayed for over 48 hours in the village of victim and recorded statements of over 100 persons and also met cops. It submitted a preliminary report with its recommendations on Friday.
