Hirakud Dam Opens 2 More Gates to Discharge Flood Water

Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities have opened two more sluice gates today to release the flood water.

In view of the rising water level at the reservoir due to heavy rain in the upper catchment area, the dam authorities have opened the gates to release the flood water, according to reports.

With this, a total of six sluice gates are being opened to release the water.

Currently, the water level at Hirakud dam remained at 609.52 ft, according to reports.

The Hirakud dam released this season’s first floodwater into Mahanadi river on July 11 through two sluice gates.
