India Records Biggest Single Day Spike of 9971 Corona Cases in Last 24 Hours

New Delhi: India reported the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Sunday as 9,971 persons tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 2,46,628.

India now became the 5th worst affected country in the world after US, Brazil, Russia and UK in terms of Coronavirus positive cases, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

As many as 6,929 people have died of the highly contagious infection so far in the country. The country’s recovery rate stood at 48.36 per cent this morning. 1,19,293 people have recovered from the diease, the Health Ministry said.

Maharashtra continues to remain at top of the table with 82,968 cases including 2,739 new cases in the state in the last 24 hours. Tamil Nadu has the second-highest number of virus cases after Maharashtra, touched 30,152 .

Around 68,91,219 people have been infected with the highly contagious virus across the globe.
