IPL 2020: DC vs CSK – Dhawan’s Maiden IPL Century Guides DC To 5-Wicket Win Against CSK

Sharjah: Shikhar Dhawan capped a fine run of form with an unbeaten 101, his first century in IPL, as Delhi Capitals snatched a thrilling five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, CSK got off to a poor start, losing its opener Sam Curran for a duck. Watson (36 off 28 balls) and du Plessis (58 off 47 balls) built for Chennai after tottering in the initial overs and brought up the 50-run stand. Rayudu (45 off 25 balls) steadied the innings after their dismissal, and together with Jadeja (33 off 13 balls), guided the team to 179 at end of 20 overs.

Chasing a target of 180, Delhi got off to a poor start, with Deepak Chahar dismissing Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane inside the powerplay. A 68-run partnership between Dhawan (101 off 58 balls) and captain Shreyas Iyer (23 off 23 balls) steadied their chase. Dhawan’s century, meanwhile, was studded with 14 fours and one six. Delhi briefly lost its track in the middle overs after it lost Marcus Stoinis (24 off 14 balls) and Alex Carrey (4 off 7 balls) in quick succession. The team needed 17 off the last six deliveries. Axar Patel (21 off 5 balls) smashed three deliveries off Jadeja over to take his team home.

DC have again moved to the top of the table with seven wins from nine games while CSK failed to improve on their sixth position in the table.
