ITI Berhampur Develops Oxygen Cylinder Lifter for COVID Hospitals

Berhampur: As medical oxygen is crucial for seriously ill COVID-19 patients, the Odisha Government-run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Berhampur has developed a unique oxygen cylinder lifter for COVID-19 hospitals and supply chain management.

Currently, after reaching the hospital and newly constructed COVID care units, the cylinders are shifted manually which requires manpower. Normally there is a safety issue with the workforce.

The cylinder lifter is well designed to address all the problems. This can easily transport big cylinders up to 160 kg with a single operator inside the hospital to the hospital bed. It is highly helpful in COVID hospitals in night time for lifting huge culinary.

From the production unit to the hospital bed involves various stages of logistic in supply chain management. The cylinder lifter plays a key role in supply management.

Principal of ITI Berhampur Dr. Rajat Panigrhy said that they have got this concept from Berhampur Sub-Collector. A five-member team under the leadership of Bichiyrananda Padhiary has fabricated it .

“We are ready to supply to the COVID hospitals very shortly when we are asked”, he added.
Previously, ITI Berhampur has innovated 15 items and four were filed for patents.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have appreciated the innovative ideas of ITI Berhampur.
