Just Dial Helpline, No Need to Come to Police Station for Lodging FIR Related to Domestic Violence Cases during Lockdown: DGP
Bhubaneswar: Soon after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed Odisha DGP Abhay to keep a strict eye on domestic violence during the ongoing lockdown, the top cop issued a number of instructions in this regard.
The DGP instructed police that there is no need for a victim to come to police stations to lodge FIR in domestic violence cases.
“During the lockdown period, victims of domestic violence need not come to police station to lodge complaint. On receipt of telephone, police will reach the spot, home to collect complaint/FIR and take necessary action. They can also approach police through Odisha Police Citizen Portal and Sahayata Mobile App,” said Abhay.
All cases of the domestic violence during lockdown period will be investigated by the officer not below than the rank of SI. Such cases will be supervised by a DSP rank officer or above.
As per the instructions, investigation unit for Crime against Women (IUCAW) of the district will remain extra alert and active during lockdown period.
