Kalahandi: ASI Caught Red-Handed Accepting Bribe

Bhawanipatna: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Rampur Police Station in Odisha’s Kalahandi district was caught red handed while accepting bribe by the sleuths of vigilance.

The accused ASI identified as Sumeswar Bag was caught by the officers of Vigilance Koraput Division while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.50,000 through Home Guard Raghumani Nayak from the victim Pabitra Nayak of Chandragiri Maligaon village of Rayagada district.

Bag has allegedly demanded the bribe to settle the dispute among the family members of Pabitra Nayak relating to share of financial benefit received by his (complainant) two mothers amounting to Rs. 2 Lakhs each under NFBS (National Family Benefit Scheme) and to release the Motor Cycle of the complainant which was detained with condition to release the same after payment, sources said.

The bribe money was recovered.
