Kalahandi Police Arrest Three Cybercriminals from Jamtara

Bhubaneswar: In a breakthrough, the Kalahandi Police arrested three professional cybercriminals from Jharkhand’s Jamtara district.

The cybercriminals used to post as customer care operators and cheated people all over the country of more than Rs 50 lakh.

Their modus operandi was they place advertisements in Google under various brand names and put their own numbers in the place of customer care numbers. When gullible “customers” call them they convince victims to click link they share in their mobile phones. This link leads to a fake payment page which is infact a phishing page.

When victims share their bank details thinking they are making payment, criminals immediately use the details and withdraw money from victim’s bank accounts.
