Phulbani: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught District Labour Officer (DLO), Kandhamal while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
The accused DLO has been identified as Ranjan Kishore Behera.
As per sources, Behera demanded the bribe from Babuja Pradhan, President of Anchalika Biswakanna Sramika Sangha, Tikabali.
The DLO allegedly demanded the bribe amount to process and recommend file of four victim families to get death relief.
The families had applied for the compensation Rs 1 lakh each (natural death) through Babuja Pradhan, who was negotiating the matter with the DLO.
The DLO was caught red-handed by vigilance sleuths while accepting the bribe inside his office chamber, sources said.
A case has been registered against the accused officer and forwarded to the court, the Vigilance Police said.
