Kind-hearted Naveen Extends Firm Hands of Support to 5-Year Old Bishnu

Bhubaneswar: Kind-hearted Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today extended firm hands of support to a five-year old child, who has been suffering from a serious medical ailment. 

Five-year old Bishnu Penthia of Koraput district has been facing difficulty in walking or doing normal activities as a tumor on his left foot has been growing abnormally.

Bishnu’s father Nakul Penthia is a daily wage labourer, who despite financial constraints consulted doctors in Boriguma, Jaipur and Koraput for his son’s treatment. The doctors had recommended Berhampur or Cuttack for Bishnu’s treatment.

A local newspaper highlighted the child’s health issue and how the financial hardship of the family stood as a barrier in his treatment. The news came to the notice of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The kind-hearted Chief Minister extended his helping hands to the child.

The CM asked the officials to take necessary steps for the treatment of the child.

The officials of National Bal Surakshya Programme immediately rushed to the Bishnu’s house at Lathiguda in Jeypore of Koraput district. The medical condition of the child was checked. He was taken to Boriguma hospital and later shifted to Koraput district headquarters hospital for preliminary treatment.

After that, the kid was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

As per sources, Bishnu arrived at SCB Cuttack with his parents and Dr Alok Bisoi of Boriguma.

He has been admitted to the Plastic Surgery Department of SCB and is under the observation of HoD, Dr AP Pattnayak, sources said.

The child will undergo a corrective surgery, sources added.
