Koraput Road Accident: PM Announces Ex-Gratia of Rs 2 Lakh Each to Next of Kin of Deceased

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next kin of those who were killed in the tragic road accident in Odisha’s Koraput district.

“An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the unfortunate road accident in Koraput, Odissa. Rs. 50,000 would be given to those seriously injured”, a PMO tweeted.

The Prime Minister has expressed grief over the loss of lives in an accident at Koraput.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “My thoughts are with all those who have lost their dear ones in the tragic accident at Koraput, Odisha. I hope those injured recover at the earliest.”

As many as nine persons were killed and ten others sustained critical injuries after a pick-up van they were travelling in overturned in Koraput district on Sunday evening.

The incident took place near Murtahandi under Kotpad police limits.

The occupants of the pick-up vehicle came from Chhattisgarh to attend a death ritual in Kotpad.
