Puri: Lakhs of people thronged pilgrimage city of Puri today on the first day of new year to have darshan of holy trinity at the Shree Jagannath Temple.
Doors of the temple were opened at 1 am expecting large number of devotees visiting the shrine on the occasion of new year while darshan began at 2.15 am.
The District administration led by collector Balwant Singh has made all arrangement like extravagant lighting arrangements, magnificent decorations, soul soothing ambiance and spiritually energising spaciousness etc for the convenience of all.
Likewise the administration has deployed 60 platoons of police force and 800 police officers to maintain law and order in the pilgrim town.
Besides Sree Mandir many temples across the state witnessed devotees making beelines to get a darshan of the deities on the first day of the new year.
