Let’s Join Hands to Prevent Drug Abuse and Promote Healthy Lifestyle, Appeals Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: As the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is being observed today across the world, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed the people to join hands to prevent drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyle for a drug free society.

The Chief Minister took to Twitter and posted a message highlighting the negative impacts of drug abuse on the health and well-being of families and society.

Drug abuse has huge impact on the health and well-being of families and society, the CM wrote.

On International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, let’s join hands to prevent drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyle for a Drug Free society, Naveen appealed.

The UN General Assembly passed a resolution in 1987 to observe 26 June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

Supported each year by individuals, communities and various organizations all over the world, this global observance aims to raise awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society.
