MBBS Students to be Imparted Training to Fight COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: Considering the nature of Coronavirus, the Odisha Government has decided to train the medical community including doctors, paramedics and others staffs who will be involved in direct management of the patients in the COVID hospitals and isolation wards of various health facilities in the State.

In the first phase, the training of government establishments will be taken up, informed Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy in a notification.

The private medical colleges will also be required to train the doctors and students simultaneously, he said.

“Considering the nature of the disease, extreme care and caution as well as professional approach need to be adopted.

Therefore, it is decided that intensive training of the personnel in accordance with available protocols will be conducted”, the CS added.

The government has also decided to train MBBS students (7th, 8th and 9th semester) of all medical colleges who could be deployed in case need arises in view of the dearth of doctors.

Anu Garg, Principal Secretary, Labour & ESI & W&CD assisted by Bhupendra Singh Poonia will be handling this crucial assignment, the order said.
