Milk on Tap: First-Ever Milk ATM Opened in Berhampur

Berhampur: The first-ever pasteurized and vitamin added milk ATM was opened in Silk City here on Thursday.

Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange inaugurated the user-friendly milk vending machine on the premises of Ganjam-Gajapati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Association office near Gate Bazaar here in the presence of local MLA Bikram Kumar Panda.

The ATM has been installed by the Ganjam-Gajapati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Association with the initiative of Ganjam administration and Tata CSR.

The newly-installed vending machine facilitates consumers to get fresh milk at their convenience through cash or smart card.

While highlighting various advantages of milk ATM, the Collector said that five such vending machines will be installed at different places in the city including MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

The residents of Berhampur city expressed their satisfaction over the initiative of district admin.

“I am really happy that Ganjam administration has taken such an innovative step. Now everyone can get milk at cheaper price”, said Sunita panda, a housewife residing at Gate Bazaar area.

Expressing similar sentiment, Bhima Rao, a daily labourer said, now we can drink milk at any time with cheaper price.
