MP Update: BJP to Seek Floor Test on March 16

New Delhi: The BJP in Madhya Pradesh is all set to seek a floor test on March 16 which is also the first day of state’s budget session.

The move comes in the wake of 22 Congress MLAs resigning from the state assembly, leaving the incumbent Kamal Nath-led government hanging with a thread.

“Since the government is in minority, we are going to request the governor and the Assembly speaker for a floor test on March 16 when the state budget session begins,” BJP’s chief whip in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Narottam Mishra told reporters.

A BJP delegation led by former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to meet the governor today.
Meanwhile, Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, told media that the floor test can not take place as the resignations submitted by 19 MLAs have not been accepted, they should physically come before the Speaker. “These MLAs have been held hostage by BJP,” he added.
