Puri: One of the most important and spectacular rituals of Lord Jagannath – the Nagarjuna Besha will be conducted on the 27th of November. The first Nagarjuna Besha of the 21st century is going to be held after a gap of 26years. While all arrangements are being made to perform the rare occasion as per traditions, there will not be any congregation or entry of devotees in view of the prevailing Covid-19 condition and guidelines.
The Chattisha Nojoga, the highest decision making body for the Temple rituals, held a meeting with the officials of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration and district administration yesterday to chalk out and give a go ahead to the ritual schedule for the Nagarjuna Besha. Along with this the Krtika Niti schedule has also been approved by the Nijoga in the meeting.
According to sources, the Nagarjuna Besha rituals will start early morning 4 O Clock with the wearing of Abhusnas of the deities that will continue for four hours. A special committee will be constituted to look after the performance of the rituals. It was decided in the meeting that Habisialis will not be allowed to Puri this year for the pandemic.
