Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park has added two tiger cubs in its credit early in the morning Thursday rising its tiger numbers to 27 when white Tigress SNEHA delivered two Cubs. The cubs were born early morning between 3 am to 6 am. The mother tiger was caring the cubs as monitored through CCTV.
The sex of the new born cubs has not yet been determined. Mating of this tigress was observed with normal coloured tiger SAIF nearly 105 days back. This normal colour tiger SAIF was brought from Hyderabad zoo under animal exchange programme for bloodline change.
With this the present number of tigers in Nandankanan has increased to 27. There are 13 normal coloured tigers that included 5 male and 8 females. There are also 8 white tigers in the Zoo including 3 male and 5 female white tigers.
Nandankanan has also the distinction of having 4 male Melanistic tigers.
