National Vaccination Day: Odisha Starts COVID-19 Vaccination of Children Aged 12-14 Years

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has started the COVID-19 vaccination of the children in the age group of 12-14 from Wednesday, coinciding with the National Vaccination Day.

The new vaccine Corbevax, manufactured by Biological E. Limited, Hyderabad, is being administered to the children.
Children born before Mar 15, 2010, can take the COVID vaccine. Birth certificate is mandatory. Registration can be done in both online/offline mode, the State Health and Family Welfare Department said.

Around 15.21 lakh children, including 7.4 lakh girls, in the 12-14 years age group will be administered two doses of Corbevax in a gap of 28 days. More 6000 health workers will be engaged for this purpose.

As many as 15.47 lakh vaccine doses are available with the State now, it said.

National Vaccination Day was observed across various districts of Odisha to raise awareness regarding importance of Government approved vaccines to prevent and cure several diseases, the Health Department added.
