Naveen Condoles Demise of First Odia Woman ISRO Scientist Dr. Susama Panigrahi

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has condoled the sad demise of renowned Odia scientist Dr. Susama Panigrahi, who passed away on Sunday.

Dr. Panigrahi, the first Odia woman scientist of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), had made immense contribution to the study of remote sensing having direct relevance in the areas of disaster management, cyclone, flood and crop management.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grieve over the death of the scientist.

Dr. Panigrahi was born October 17, 1952 at Aska in Ganjam district. She completed her Masters in Botany from Berhampur University in 1974. After completing her Ph.D from IIT Kharagpur in 1982, she joined ISRO, Ahmedabad as a scientist in 1983.
