Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated former minister and senior BJD leader Surya Narayan Patro on being unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Odisha Assembly on Saturday.
The Chief Minister hoped that under the leadership of the newly elected speaker, the august House continues to work for the welfare of the people of Odisha, in true democratic spirit

Earlier today, the Odisha CM moved the proposal while Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh and other members of the Assembly supported it.
Patro was unanimously elected as the speaker of the House.
Pro-tem Speaker Amar Prasad Satpathy then invited Patro to take charge as Speaker.
