Naveen Era: Odisha’s High Growth Saga Continues, Budget Outlay Jumps 1200% in Two Decades

Bhubaneswar: When Naveen Patnaik took oath as Chief Minister for first time in 2000, the Budget was Rs 11,800 crore. Today the Budget for 2020-21 is Rs 1,50,000 Crore. It has increased by almost 13 times and 1200% increase. This is the New Odisha.

Capital Outlay in 2000 was Rs. 799 Crore, which has increased to 26500 Crore, an increase of almost by 33 times and 3200%.
Similarly, agriculture – budget was Rs.7000 Crore in 2013-14 while in 2020-21 it is Rs.19408 Crore, an increase of about 3 times and 180%. MLA-LAD tripled from 1 Crore to 3 Crores.

Besides, budget for Tourism, Industry, Forest and I.T. has been doubled and allotment to OUAT, Bhubaneswar for research and infrastructure increased by five times.

Odisha’s projected growth Rate of 6.16% is higher than 5% of National growth rate.

Target growth rate for the year 2020-21 is 7.8%.

Odisha’s agricultural growth rate of 4.5% is higher than 3.1% of National agricultural growth rate.
