Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the death of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who passed away on Monday.
“Deeply saddened to know the passing away of former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi. He was very popular leader and will always be remembered for his commitment to the development of North East. My thoughts & prayers are with the bereaved family and followers. RIP”, the Odisha CM tweeted.
Tarun Gogoi was undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital for post-Covid complications. He passed away at the age of 84.
The octogenerian Congress leader had served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He was the longest serving Chief Minister of the State.
