Berhampur: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the much-awaited Gopalpur Belabhumi Mahotsav (Beach Festival)-2019 this evening.
The five-day long festival, one of the major cultural events in South Odisha, will showcase dance, music, songs, sand art and water sports.
It will also feature various competitions along with Pallishree Mela; Herbal Mela, Book Fair and exhibition during December 24 to 28.
During the extravaganza, people will witness a feast of hit songs and dances, including folk, classical as well as modern from artistes from India and abroad.
This year’s special star attraction includes Bollywood singers Sonu Nigam and Shaan.
Besides, comedian-actor and mimicry artiste Sanket Bhosale has also been roped in for a performance.
This year, the event will showcase activities and performances even during day time.
Lakhs of visitors are expected to congregate in the port town to witness the festival.
