Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday remembered Swabhaba kabi Gangadhar Meher and his contribution towards the formation of separate Odisha province on his birth anniversary.
The Chief Minister paid his humble tributes to Gangadhar Meher, one of the forerunners of the formation of a separate Odisha (then Orissa) State.
Taking to Twitter, Naveen said that Gangadhar Meher will always be remembered for his contribution for the enrichment of Odia language and literature, and social reforms.

Swabhaba kabi Gangadhar Meher was born on this day in 1862 in Bargarh district. He was a renowned Odia poet of the 19th century. He remained one of the most prolific and original contributor to Odia literature.
