Naveen To Launch 5T Initiatives Of ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department Today

Bhubaneswar: Taking another step forward towards bringing in transparency and transformation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will today launch a number of initiatives of ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department. These will be launched under the purview of 5T Initiatives and are aimed at empowering the common man.

The projects to be launched today include Scholarship, Mo Chhatrabas Card, Samhiti, Akankshya, Natural Resource and Nutrition Security Management, Comprehensive Action Plan and Prayas.

Scholarship – Disbursement of Post Matric Scholarship to 50,000 eligible ST and ST students through Odisha State Scholarship Portal.

Mo Chhatrabas Card – As part of “Mission Suvidya” initiative, to bring in transparency and accountability in hostel management, entitlement cards for 5.7 lakh ST and SC boardersresiding in SSD Hostels.

Samhati – An initiative for upscaling Multi Lingual Education to address language issues of 1.5 Lakh tribal students in early grades across 1450 SSD schools.

Akankshya – Inauguration of Akankshya Hostels in Sambalpur, Rourkela and Berhampur for ST and SC students studying in urban centers and 68 hostels to provide residential facility and check dropout rate among students.

Natural Resource and Nutrition Security Management – Signing of MOU with ICRISAT for promoting sustainable integrated natural resource management and partnering with APPI for providing nutrition security to PVTG Mothers and Children in 1125 PVTG villages indentified earlier.

Comprehensive Action Plan – Comprehensive Action Plan for the holistic development of PVTGs residing in the newly identified 1138 PVTG villages.

Prayas – An initiative in skill development by Odisha Tribal Development Society for Skill training and placement linkage of 7560 ST, SC, OBC and Minorities, youths with support of Odisha Skill Development Authority.
