Odisha: 12 Gates of Hirakud Dam Opened to Release Flood Water

Sambalpur: In view of increasing water level at the reservoir due to incessant rain in upper catchment areas, the Hirakud Dam authorities opened 12 gates of the reservoir to release the excess water.

As per reports, water level at the dam stood at 615.41 feet as against the full reservoir level of 630 feet on Monday.

The Hirakud dam authorities had opened 8 sluice gates on Saturday and two more gates on Sunday. Earlier, two gates of the reservoir were opened.

The dam is now releasing 1,93,353 cusec water through 12 sluice gates, while the inflow of water into the dam reservoir was 2,4079 cusec, reports stated.
