Berhampur: As many as 228 migrant labourers from Odisha stranded in Gujarat are returning to their home State amid COVID-19 lockdown.
The migrant workers are returning to Ganjam district from Surat in four buses. All necessary arrangements have been made for their safe return, informed Ganjam District Rural Development Agency Project Director-cum-District COVID cell head Er. Siddharth Shankar Swain.
The modern bus terminal at Haladiapadar, which is five kilometre from here, will be used as Centre for receiving the migrants in coordination with the Berhampur Development Authority (BeDA) to check end to end movement of people in order to avoid any dislocation, he said.
Chatrapur New Bus terminal may also be another Centre for receiving the returnees, he added.
The workers have reportedly left Surat after receiving approval from the Gujarat Government.
Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had talked to his Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani to facilitate homecoming of migrant workers stranded there.
