Odisha Saves 1000 Big Trees by Opting for Paperless Budgeting
Bhubaneswar: With an endeavor to minimize carbon footprints, the Odisha Government has taken the bold step of switching over to digital paperless Budget from this year. With this there will not be any printing of bulk Budget Books thereby reducing paper usage and saving hundreds of trees.
The decision will result in reducing printing of around 75 lakh pages of paper and directly saving more than a thousand trees. The Department of Finance in association with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology has devised a mobile App Odisha Budget from which all details of the state Budget can be accessed.
Sharing this important decision, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said “ Committed to build a green and sustainable future, Odisha has saved around 1000 big trees by switching over to paperless budgeting in 2020-21 fiscal.
