Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today provided a COVID assistance package of Rs 386 crore for 18 lakh landless farmers under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
The landless farmers will also get an additional financial assistance of Rs 1000, the CM announced.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that he was happy to provide COVID assistance to the families of 18 lakh landless farmers.
“Farmers, laborers and workers are the nucleus of our economy. It is their sacrifice and hard work that boost the State economy”, he said.
The landless farmers play a pivotal role for the development of agricultural sector, the CM while adding that he will continue to fight to protect the interests of the landless farmers.
Odisha will continue to fight till the implementation of the recommendations of MS Swaminathan Committee, he reiterated.
