Odisha CM Reviews Livelihood Schemes, Stresses on Timely Payment of Wages

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today reviewed various schemes including MGNRGS, Rural Housing , Mission Shakti that are meant for livelihood support during the pandemic in the State.

Reviewing the progress through video conference Patnaik said, since March, COVID-19 Pandemic has thrown up big challenge to all of us triggering economic slowdown all over the world which has badly hit poor people by losing their livelihood.
He said his government’s top priority is to provide livelihood support to the poor during the pandemic. He asked the collectors to ensure that no body should deprived of wage employment during this pandemic period. Besides MGNREGS , The State Government has launched its own urban employment schemes by which wage employment can be provided to the needy and poor people.

The Government is targeting to generate 20 crore man-days from these two wage employment schemes . He warned that strict action will be taken against those officials who are responsible for delay in payment of wages to the job seekers. He asked the officials to ensure that needy people get their wage on time.

He also asked collectors to make phone calls to the workers whether they got timely payment or not under Mo Sarkar .

He also said that by 1st January 2021, special Mo Sarkar Cell will be set up at every district to get the feedback on the timely wage payment.

Naveen also hailed the districts like Koraput and Subarnapur for achieving their target in various parameters under MGNREGS. He congratulated the district collectors of Koraput and Sonepur.

In Migration prone district, the government is providing additional 100 days wage employment to the people with additional wage rate from the state fund under MGNREGS, he added.

He directed the officials to complete at leased 1000 Mission Shakti building by March 2021.
The government will encourage to engage SHG groups for monitoring of employment schemes.
