Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today thanked Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for giving his nod to introduce a direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat.
“Thank Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for honouring Odisha’s long standing demand to operate direct Air India flight from Bhubaneswar to Surat”, the CM tweeted.
The tri-weekly flight will immensely benefit people of Odisha and will give a huge boost to tourism and trade, Naveen said.

The direct flight operation between Bhubaneswar and Surat will start from 1st January 2020 (three days a week). People of Odisha will be immensely benefited by this decision. It will also promote business and tourism.
Notably, the Chief Minister had earlier requested the Centre to introduce a direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat in Gujarat. Naveen said that lakhs of Odia families have settled in Surat and are engaged in the textile sector.
During the hours of urgent necessity, Odia people living in Surat face untold difficulties in reaching Odisha in time, the CM had said.
