Odisha Govt Initiates Major Reforms, 75 Mtrs from Boundary to Be Vacated

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to bring reforms in the Shree Mandir for significant development, the Odisha Government has decided to vacate 75 meters of area from the boundaries of the Jagannath Temple in the line of Kashi Biswanath Temple in Varanasi for the convenience of devotees.

The Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal of the Law Department regarding some of the recommendations of the Justice BP Das Commission of Inquiry in its first interim report on the reforms and development of the Jagannath Temple.

Speaking to media Chief Secretary, Asit Kumar Tripathy said that the Government has accepted some of the recommendation of Justice BP Das Commission.

The Government is planning to deploy two platoons of OSAP forces, IRB Battalion and Quick Action Team for the security of Jagannath Temple, Tripathy added.

Meanwhile, the District Collector has been entrusted with the task of land acquisition and survey work of the specified areas.

Besides, it has been decided in principle to provide compensation to the affected people and the agencies and ensure their proper rehabilitation.
