Odisha Govt to Set up Plasma Banks in MKCG MCH, Capital Hospital for COVID-19 Treatment

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to set up plasma banks at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur to support convalescent plasma therapy (CPT) for the treatment of serious COVID-19 patients.

This has been informed by Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department PK Mohapatra during a media briefing here today.

Stating that the COVID-19 situation is under control, Mohapatra said that the new positive cases are increasing to door to door health screening and people don’t need to panic over the rise in cases.

The COVID-19 situation in Odisha is far better than other states in the country, he said while adding that the recovery rate in the State is 65% and fatality rate is 0.54%.

The State Government will ramp up testing capacity by adding six more testing facilities. Currently, there are 19 testing facilities in the State. Odisha has a stock of 4 lakh antigen kits and enough stock of PPEs, sanitizers and medicine for at least four months, he said.

He also said that the State Government will reach out at each and every symptomatic person and test them.
