Bhubaneswar: Odisha handloom products are in great demand in global markets, earning Rs 4.77 crore from the overseas businesses in the past five years.
This has been informed by Minister for Handloom, Textile and Handicraft, Padmini Dian in the Assembly while replying to a question.
The Minister said that Odisha textile and handloom fabrics have received good respone in the world market. The cities like Santiago and Chilly in South America, Frankfurt of German and Dhaka are having substantial market for Odisha handloom products.
She further said that typical Khanduapata saree of Nuapatna, Maniabandh cotton saree of Bargarh and Sonepur, Bomkei saree and fabrics, Berhampuri pata and traditional silk products of Gopalpur, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Balasore are in great demand in the national and international markets.
