Odisha: Jharsuguda Airport to Have Instrument Landing System by December

Jharsuguda: Odisha’s second largest airport Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda district will have the Instrument Landing System (ILS) by December this year.

This has been informed by airport’s director Sudesh Kumar Chouhan.

Initially, Jharsuguda Airport was meant for only Visual Flight Rules (VFR) operations. Since the city witnesses low visibility and bad weather during most part of the year, this leads to delays and cancellation of scheduled flights.

With new navigational facilities, the airport will become an all-weather airport and will enhance connectivity to the coastal state of Odisha, This will ensure more regular service which will benefit both airlines and passengers, sources said.

Apart from the ILS, the number of parking lots at the airport will be increased to six from the existing two.
