Bhubaneswar: The social welfare wing of the Biju Janata Dal, Odisha Mo Parivar has helped in the return of 69 students belonging to the Central University Bhatinda who were stranded after the state government declared all the educational institutions closed in view of the Corona Virus scare.
The students returned to Bhubaneswar safely in the early morning today. The matter was brought to the notice of Arup Patnaik, Convener, Odisha Mo Parivar, by Bhadrak MLA Sanjib Kumar Mallick. 5 of the students belonged to Bhadrak District.
The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the CMO which then issued instructions to the Special Resident Commissioner in Delhi Ravi Kant to look into the matter. Ravi Kant, with the help of the railway board, coordinated the return of the students to Odisha.
The 69 students, which included 35 girls, were brought to New Delhi on 17th March in special buses and were arranged journey to Bhubaneswar by Purusottam Express. The train reached early morning today in Bhubaneswar and the students were welcomed by Arup Patnaik and other functionaries of Odisha Mo Parivar at the Railway Station.
The students were sent to the Panthaniwas where they were felicitated by Gopabandhu Dash, OSD to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Srimayee Mishra Chairperson OTDC. The students were sensitized about the deadly corona virus and were sent back to their homes safely.
