Bhubaneswar: Odisha has fared very well in its fight against coronavirus virus and become a role model for large states in COVID testing.
Odisha has been ranked second in the country for COVID-19 tests per day per million population, according to the Union Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry on Friday in a Tweet with a statistical bar-chart has informed about the States and Union Territories performing more than 140 COVID tests per day per million population.
As per the Centre’s provided information, Odisha ranks second in India for undertaking maximum number of COVID tests per day per million population.
Standing at 1,265 COVID tests per day per million population, Odisha has left behind many large states in India and is much higher than the National Average.
While the National Average of India stands at 580, Odisha is far ahead of the national average of India by an additional 685 COVID tests per day per million population.
Large States like Madhya Pradesh at 244 daily tests per million population, Rajasthan at 309, West Bengal at 365, Bihar at 408, Kerala at 534, Punjab at 546 and Maharashtra at 579, are far behind not only Odisha but also the national average in this regard.
Even large developed states like Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat are far behind Odisha.
With Odisha increasing its daily COVID testing to more than 50,000 tests per day, Odisha has become a role model for large states in COVID testing.
