Odisha to Go for One Lakh Rapid Antibody Tests to Fight COVID-19: I&PR Secy

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to prevent the spread of deadly Coronavirus, the Odisha Government has decided to carry out one lakh Rapid Antibody Testing in the State, said Sanjay Kumar Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department today.

“A record of one lakh rapid testing is being planned as a preventive measure in potential hotspots,” Singh said.

The State Government is also procuring one lakh rapid testing kits from both within country and outside the county, he added.

He also highlighted the major decision taken by the Cabinet today.

The highlights are:

  • Odisha is the first state in the country to extend lock down till April 30th.
  • Odisha Cabinet decides for extension and also recommends to Union Government to do the same.
  • CM Naveen Patnaik also requests Centre not to start train and air services till April 30th.
  • A record of one lakh rapid testing is being planned as a preventive measure in potential hotspots.
    Educational institutions will remain closed till June 17.
  • Food security of people is of utmost importance. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, MGNREGS related activities to be facilitated following social distancing norms.
  • As earlier, free movement of Goods transport will be allowed.
