Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged all to take extra care of the elders in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
“World is facing an unprecedented crisis due to COVID-19, leaving our elders more vulnerable than ever”, the Odisha CM said.
“On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, let us all pledge to take extra care of our elders as we grapple with this pandemic and give them love and respect they deserve”, he said.

The World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse and neglect.
