Puri Jagannath Temple Fund to Be Kept in Nationalized Banks

Puri: The fund of the Puri Jagannath Temple will be kept in nationalized banks, the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee announced on Wednesday.

The decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the managing committee presided over by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb.

The Foundation Fund of the 12th century shrine will be kept in the State Bank of India (SBI) and the corpus and the temple fund will be kept in three nationalized bank, informed the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) after the meeting.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee has decided to keep 50 per cent of the temple fund money in the bank that provides more interest against the deposit and keep remaining 50 per cent fund in two other nationalized banks.

Besides, the Committee has also decided to intervene on the issue of untimely Rath Yatra celebrations by ISKCON, sources said.
