Russia Launches World’s First COVID-19 Vaccine

New Delhi: In a major development, Russian President Vladimir Putin today announced the launch of the country’s first COVID-19 vaccine, which is also said to be the first in the world.

The country’s health ministry has given its approval for the vaccine, which has been developed by Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute and the Russian Defence Ministry.

According to reports, Putin’s daughter has received a shot of the vaccine.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the world reached 20,011,186 on Tuesday, as per the data given by John Hopkins. The disease has spread to over 210 countries and territories since it first originated in China’s Wuhan in December 2019. The death toll due to COVID-19 jumped to 732,000 globally.
