Saving Lives And Property is Our Priority: Minister Pramila Mallik

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallik today reviewed the flood situation in the state and said that zero casualty is the priority for the government.

She said that steps are being taken according to the needs and requirements for flood management.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered for zero casualty and we are working on saving every live and property.

Mallik said this is a medium flood situation and districts such as Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khordha and Jajpur have been affected. The district Collectors have been asked to take steps according to the need. She also said that rescue shelters have been opened and people evacuated from low laying areas are being given cooked food by the government.

Briefing media after the review meeting, SRC Pradeep Kumar Jena has said that, two more breaches have been reported today, taking the total number of breaches due to floods to four. There have been new breaches at Tentiakuda on Kushabhadra river and Teramanapur on Mahanadi river. For the first time since 2011, we are getting so much of water at Munduli. The next 24 hours are very crucial for everyone. The flow of flood waters at Munduli has slightly receded.
