School Van Fined Rs 17,500 in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A school van carrying students in Odisha’s Bhadrak district was fined Rs 17,500 for allegedly violating traffic rules and lack of safety measures under the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act, 2019.

The Bhadrak Regional Transport Office (RTO) slapped the hefty fine to the driver of Tata Magic that was plying without valid documents.

As per reports, the driver could not produce documents, such as insurance, valid permit and fitness certificate when the RTO officials checked the vehicle.

Besides, the vehicle does not have necessary safety measures meant for carrying the school children, sources said.

Fines of Rs 10,000 for lack of permit, Rs 5000 for fitness, Rs 2000 for insurance and Rs 500 for other non-compliances have been imposed on the driver.
