Serological Survey Starts in Berhampur

Berhampur: The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has commenced a five-day serological survey in the city from today.

The primary objective of the serological study is to get an idea about the prevalence of antibodies among the residents, which will help the BeMC to determine the future course of action as suggested by the RMRC, said BeMC Commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore.

The serological survey will be conducted till Friday with focus on the 12 priority groups (community and high-risk groups) in all 40 wards of Berhampur.

Over 2500 samples including 1000 from people belonging to high-risk categories and 1500 from randomly selected persons will be collected for the study.

The BeMC is conducting the serological survey in collaboration with the Regional Medical Research Center (RMRC) Bhubaneswar.

Five teams comprising the staff of BeMC and RMRC have started the survey from today.

Berhampur is the second city in Odisha after the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to start this study in the capital city.
