Some Good News Amidst Corona Chaos: Elderly Couple Recover Covid-19 In Kerala

Thiruananthapuram: Amidst the fear and chaos of the worldwide pandemic Covid-19, news coming from Thirianantapuram is going to bring some hope for everybody. As we read every day about how the deadly infection is targeting the elderly people most, the dramatic recovery a couple aged above 88 years has rekindled hope and faith.

An elderly couple aged about 93 years and 88 years have shown us that the deadly virus can be defeated with proper diagnosis and treatment. The miracle happened in Kerala’s Kottayam, where the old couple were diagnosed with Covid-19 after they came in contact with their son and his family who had came back from Italy and tested positive for Covid-19. The couple was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College hospital for treatment and were given special treatment by taking into account their age.

They were critical in the initial days with age related diseases. They also had diabetes and hypertension. But the care given in the hospital by a team of 40 medical staff including 7 doctors worked wonders and the couple are today cured.

A statement issued by the Kerala Health Department said “In an achievement in its battle against the coronavirus pandemic, an elderly couple, aged 93 and 88 who had tested positive and remained critical for days, have recovered completely.”
