Spitting in Public Places Now Made Cognizable Offence in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Be aware. Spitting in public places may land you in trouble as the Odisha Government has prohibited spitting in public places. 

In a media briefing, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, “Spitting in public places is now a cognizable and compoundable offence. Rs 200 fine will be imposed each for first three violations while Rs 500 will be imposed for subsequent.”

The Government announced the fine after bringing an amendment to the Odisha Covid-19 (Amendment) Regulations 2020 on Thursday. The Health and Family Welfare Department on Thursday issued a notification to this effect.
